Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

Hello Everyone!!!

I'm finally getting to my second book of January and it's Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. This is a reread for me but I thoroughly enjoyed it the first time round so I'm super excited to read it again!!!

This is about twins, Cath and Wren and they go off to University. Wren is a party goer and socialiser whereas Cath likes to spend time in her room writing fanfiction.

That's all I'm going to say for now and I'll give you a full synopsis in my review soon.

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline - Review

Monday 18 January 2016 0 comments

Hello Book Lovers!!!

I've finally finished Ready Player One by Ernest Cline!!! Sorry it has taken me so long and you haven't had a review in a couple of weeks but I've just been so busy!!! I underestimated how busy January was going to be and I haven't even hit the busiest week in the month yet as next week I'm in panto.

Anyway I've finished one book this month at least and I actually really enjoyed it which surprised me as it's a sci fi novel!!! Maybe this is the start of me getting into sci fi more.

In this book we meet Wade who lives most of his life in a virtual reality called the OASIS. When the creator of the OASIS dies, he leaves a challenge for the players. This challenge includes playing games and solving clues to open three gates and collecting each of the keys at each gate. At the end of the last gate, there is an egg. Find the egg and win the game. But it's not just a game, there is a huge prize at the end of it. Immortality and James Halliday's (the creator of the OASIS) fortune!!!

This began as a huge competition when it was first aired but after a few years of nobody finding the first gate, people began to give up. But Wade carried on and once he eventually found the first gate, people began to get more interested in the hunt again. The competition eventually get's fully underway but when the Sixers, a group who want the egg more than anything so they can be in charge of the OASIS, and will do anything, literally, to get it, begin the hunt, Wade realises that this could get much more dangerous than he first imagined. And maybe the help of some of his online friends might be exactly what he needs.

I really enjoyed the story of this novel and the OASIS world. I'm not a gamer myself but my boyfriend is and I couldn't help but think of him throughout this book. I found it hard to picture Wade as I kept on seeing my boyfriend instead. However I did like each of the main characters as they didn't just work hard to find the egg, but helped and supported each other through the process as well.

I never got bored as it was a fast paced story and for me to not get bored in a sci fi novel is a miracle!!! But for once, I understood everything that was going on all the way through. The only bit I struggled with some of the time was remembering what some of the gaming terminology meant. They were stated fully when they were mentioned the first time which was great but then I had to remember what they meant throughout the book when they were abbreviated.

Apart from this however, I did thoroughly enjoy the story and it never seemed to stop. Even from the beginning we were thrown straight into this virtual world and within the first couple of chapters I already felt I knew the OASIS pretty well. I'm really glad I enjoyed it as it has made me feel a little more comfortable about picking up more novels in this genre.

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline

Friday 1 January 2016 0 comments
Hello Book Lovers!!!

The first book of 2016 I will be reading is.....Ready Player One by Ernest Cline!!! I was going to read this book last year after my boyfriend hyped it up so much and it was hyped a lot on BookTube. However, I never got round to it and as I'm at my boyfriend's and I forgot to bring another book to read after I finished my final book of 2015, I thought I would borrow his copy of Ready Player One and make that my first book of 2016.

From what my boyfriend has said, this book is about a world in which you are within a game. You go to school there, you work there, basically your life is in the game. The person who created this world sadly dies and hides his investment in this world. Whoever finds the investment, becomes the new owner of the world. And it's an Easter Egg Hunt to find the investment. How cool does that sound!!!

In my last post I mentioned that I wanted to try to get more into Sci Fi novels as I find them difficult to understand but I don't just want to give up on them. Ready Player One is a Sci Fi novel but the plot sounds fairly straight forward so I'm excited to see how I find this book.

If you've read this book then let me know in the comments what you thought about it and I'll speak to you all in my next post very soon :)

Bookish New Years Resolutions

Image from Google

Hello Book Lovers and Happy New Year!!!

I hope you had a fabulous New Year and celebrated it all the ways you love to :) Today I thought, as it's the new year, and I have some exciting new plans for this blog and other bookish things, I would share them with you today and make them my resolutions to stick to this year :) So lets get started!!!

1. Read at least 60 books.
I thought this would be a good one to make as it gives me a goal, and if I read 60 books then I've matched the number for 2015. But you never know, maybe I can beat that number!!!

2. Begin writing my book.
For the last year or so, I've had a book idea on my laptop and I began planning it but got no further. So I want to make it my goal to have a finished first draft by the end of 2016.

3. Try to introduce myself to more Sci Fi novels.
If you've been reading my blog for a while, you may know that I'm not very good at understanding Sci Fi. This is something I want to challenge myself to do in 2016 and you never know, I might even find myself a new favourite book. Although I doubt that. Anne of Green Gables is my baby...

4. Create a schedule.
This is so I don't prioritise some things over others. This schedule will include writing, reading, and all the other non bookish things I enjoy doing.

5. BookTube
This is a new thing I've decided to start this year. I don't know how many of you know about BookTube, but it is a community on YouTube specifically for all things book related. Its such a good platform to get recommendations and find out about books that are hyped, underrated etc. I will be also posting all of my videos on this blog so there will be so much more posts to look forward to this year. Exciting stuff!!!

So that's it for now. Do you have any Bookish New Years Resolutions? If so, feel free to leave them in the comments below and I'll be sure to check them out.

Speak to you all very soon!!!

Happy Reading!!!
