Hello Book Lovers!!!
I'm here to tell you my thoughts and opinions on Simon vs the Homosapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli! This is a book I had high expectations for and I wasn't let down!
This is about Simon who is a high school student and is gay. Nobody knows this yet as he hasn't came out to anyone however he has been sending secret emails to a boy that calls himself Blue (code name) but they both know they go to the same school, they just don't know who each other are yet.
But when a boy called Martin discovers these emails and tries to blackmail Simon, Simon has to quickly decide what to do and discover who he is.
This was a really fun and diverse book to read and I definitely understand why it gets the hype it does. Becky Albertalli wrote this story in such a way that made you completely fall in love with each and every one of the characters. By the end there were no characters I didn't like.
Her writing style is also super easy to follow so I felt engaged throughout the story and I felt like I could connect to the story and the characters very quickly.
The story itself was highly engaging and entertaining and I just wanted to give Simon a hug constantly! He always seemed to get himself into awkward situations which left me wanting to help him out all I could!
I also loved that it felt like I was playing a game all the way through trying to work out who Blue was...and no I never got it right!
Simon's character development throughout the story was also done at such a steady pace and the other characters we met along the way also had quite a development, especially Martin who came across as a bully to start with but by the end we got to know him so much better and understand why he did what he did.
Overall I think this is a great YA story if you're wanting something a bit fluffy and its definitely a book you can fly through!
