Hello Book Lovers!!!
Today I'm here to tell you about my thoughts and opinions on Into the Water by Paula Hawkins. This is the first book this year I've completed but I'm excited to see what other books I find in 2018!
So Into the Water is about sisters Nel and Jules. Nel ends up dead and found in 'the water'. Everyone thinks she has killed herself but her sister Jules thinks someone pushed her.
We follow the investigation into Nel's death and along the way discover secrets about previous deaths that have also involved 'the water'.
I'm not going to tell you anything else as this story can be easily spoilt however I did enjoy this story but it took me a long time to get through. Once I got further into the story I did start enjoying it more and I was intrigued to find out what was going to happen.
I didn't feel like I got attached to many of the characters however I did start feeling sorry for characters I don't think you should really feel sorry for which was a bit of a surprise. I wouldn't say I particularly liked any of the characters though and I think the way they behaved a lot of the time really put me off them.
I did however like how the story was told from multiple perspectives as I got to find out a lot about each of the characters and their sides to the overall stories which I found interesting.
Overall I would recommend this book if you're looking for a thriller with twists and turns and some pretty messed up characters however I definitely wouldn't recommend this to younger readers. I also wouldn't say this was as good as The Girl on the Train, Paula Hawkins' first book, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
